I am Obadiah Terry, an 18 year old black male residing in Chicago, Illinois. I moved here from Seattle on August 27th, 2013 to earn a degree in Cinema Arts and Sciences from Columbia College Chicago.

I'm sorry

• You may remember me from elementary school.

The kid who stood on the curb with his brothers until the bell rang to get in line. The kid who brought Beanie Babies to show and tell? Who wore the same outfit for 3 days and you made fun of me? Who chased you on the playground after you chased me? The kid who was good at soccer? At Madrona?

• You may remember me from middle school.

The kid with the weird skin and incessant sty infection's in his eyes. Basketball didn't work for me because I was super short, remember? At Washington, because my mom wanted me to see a bigger school before high school? Madrona was too small.. But I loved those guys anyway. I really did.

The kid in the front row who was always talking about black empowerment and/or politics? The one who kept running for student government positions? The black kid who acted "white"? The weirdo, you remember. The one who was always with that girl. 

You will know me now as the voice you hear in your head as you read this. You may find out who I have grown to be, while I grow into who I want to be. You are my diary. You are where I will store my experiences. I will be completely honest and authentic with you, and only you.

I've missed you. It's been weird without you. We used to see each other every day, now I just sit alone in this apartment, writing comedy, movies, raps, poems, and blog posts.. And letters to you. Letters you will probably never read.. Not because I don't know how to send a letter, but because that'd be a waste of an envelope if you never opened it.

This is me.. Whoever that is, I guess reading this will help us both decide.
